This past few days I have been in NYC and had such a good time, especially the time spent at MOMA! Seeing paintings in person is a real treat, so different than seeing pictures of paintings. I am sharing this Matisse. I love the colors and, even though quite "busy" I feel the simplicity of the whole.
Lots if little pieces of cut-up papers make up this collage on paper, using a shorebird as the subject. Upcycling old paper is fun, like working a puzzle.
Following along with my renewed interest in collage, this is a painting to which I added a piece of wax paper used to cover my palette. I keep thinking I will add more to it, but I kind of like the simplicity of it. I will live with it for a while.
I have been enjoying discovering artists by way of Pinterest. One of my new favorites is found at www.janedaviesstudios.com.
She has a great website and blog and several videos on Utube.
I have been painting for many years in several different media and have won awards in juried shows and had one-woman and small group shows. The learning aspect of painting has been a great joy and driving force for me. For the past few years I have become interested in abstract work and have been studying how to understand abstract work and how to do it.
