I am finishing up paintings that were started in the past. I feel that several of these show my journey: past, present, and future. I think one of the reasons I love painting is that the whole experience is a journey; I am always learning new things. I am getting great satisfaction from the feeling of completion.
Now that I am through with the Arts Centers project, I am getting back to working on abstraction. I am putting a loose grid in with my gestural marks.
Our Arts Center Auction this year is featuring Van Gogh, and several of us have been asked to do a painting in our style with touches of Van Gogh. I have done one painting in my more realistic style, but I wanted to do more for myself in a more abstract style (my new style). Here is a diptych done in a more abstract style but still with touches of Van Gogh.
I have been painting for many years in several different media and have won awards in juried shows and had one-woman and small group shows. The learning aspect of painting has been a great joy and driving force for me. For the past few years I have become interested in abstract work and have been studying how to understand abstract work and how to do it.
