While at the beach I started a series if paintings that express the feeling of the coast. I love all the grasses, sea oats and other things growing around the sand dunes, and I love the Spanish Moss textures. The interplay of the light and textures, a kind of interweaving of elements, fascinates me. I never get tired of seeing all of that!
I love to draw into paintings. This is charcoal and paint; sometimes drawing first, sometimes during painting, and sometimes on top of paint. A back-and-forth process.
I always love painting shore birds and think I am finally getting enough "looseness" for them to be like I want.
I have been painting for many years in several different media and have won awards in juried shows and had one-woman and small group shows. The learning aspect of painting has been a great joy and driving force for me. For the past few years I have become interested in abstract work and have been studying how to understand abstract work and how to do it.
